Who do YOU know that has
made an impact?
It occurs all too often in our network of citizen diplomats: both volunteer and paid staff accomplish amazing results that go unrecognized beyond the local community. Although the nature of our work provides us with unforgettable experiences in our personal lives on a daily basis, NCIV is developing a more systematic method of identifying outstanding achievements and long term results of our network’s efforts. By featuring such stories on a monthly basis in the NCIV Network News, our entire community can be kept abreast of tangible differences being made throughout the country. In a more wide scale effort, these stories will make ideal selections to include in a compilation for NCIV’s 50th Anniversary publication entitled The Power of Citizen Diplomacy. This book is a sequel to A Salute to Citizen Diplomacy, published by NCIV in 2000. NCIV board member Jerrold Keilson and Sherry Mueller are working on the publication plan and welcome your suggestions and submissions. The new publication will be comprised of these sections:
- Success stories organized by state and CIV
- Comments from U.S. Ambassadors including Ambassador Walter Cutler, Chair, NCIV Advisory Council
- Speeches and comments from IVLP alumni
Each success story submission should include:
- Names, countries, and affiliations of the International Visitors involved as well as the dates and title of their program
- The individuals or group of individuals involved and what they did
- Lasting results that can be identified from the interaction
- Contact information for a person knowledgeable about the success story
