The work of NCIV members with the U.S. Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program and other exchanges has far reaching effects. NCIV encourages research and collects materials that document the impact of citizen diplomacy on U.S. hosts and communities, on the international visitors themselves, on U.S. relationships with other countries, and on resolving global problems.

NCIV has collected the following information documenting the reach of the work the 80,000 volunteer citizen diplomats perform annually under the auspices of the U.S. Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program and other people-to-people exchange programs.
