Definition
A nonprofit organization or university that hosts international visitors, is committed to the mission of NCIV, and organizes programs for participants in the U.S. Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program.
Membership Procedure

Submit a completed Provisional Community Member application form and $200 application fee

NCIV Board reviews application and approves or denies provisional membership.

After a minimum of one year as a Provisional Community Member, apply for full Community Membership status.

Submit a completed Community Member application form and a $500 application fee.*

A site visit will be conducted by an NCIV staff or board member.

NCIV Board approves or denies membership.
*Applications must be received eight weeks prior to the next board meeting to provide sufficient time for a site visit and review of the application by the NCIV Board of Directors.
Membership Responsibilities

Submit Community Impact Report form annually.

Maintain current contact information in the Online Resource Directory (ORD).

Meet the NCIV membership standards as defined in the Standards & Guidelines publication. If it is determined a Community Member is not meeting the specified standards, the Community Member will be put on probation for six months. If the Community Member is not in compliance within six months, it will become an Associate Member, as determined by the NCIV Board of Directors.

Eligibility to apply for grants funded by the Office of International Visitors, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, U.S. Department of State, such as Community Partnership Grants, Local Initiative Grants, and Member Exchange Grants. Provisional Members are only eligible to apply for National and Regional Meeting participation grants.
Annual Dues
Based on the organization's staff size. A ''Paid Staff'' organization pays total salary hours of 20 hours or more per week for work dedicated to international exchange related activities. If the organization pays for fewer than 20 hours of work on international exchange activities per week, the organization is considered ''Volunteer.'' If staff salaries are paid by a university, the organization is considered a ''University'' member.
