The National Council for International Visitors held its National Meeting on February 10-12, 2005, in Washington, DC. This event was funded in large part through NCIV's cooperative agreement with the Office of International Visitors, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), U.S. Department of State. The event attracted over 500 people representing community organizations (CIVs) from around the country, National Program Agencies, and the U.S. Department of State's Office of International Visitors and Office of Language Services, as well as other NCIV members. This year's theme was Public Diplomacy, Citizen Diplomacy, Power for Positive Change and captured the essence of the work of the NCIV Network - promoting mutual understanding through person-to-person exchanges and working on the grassroots, community level to help implement U.S. foreign policy objectives.
